LimmetPrivacy policy
This policy explains what the Limmet browser extension (“Limmet”, “the extension”) does with information. The short version: it works entirely on your device, and nothing it handles is sent to the developer or to any third party.
In short
- Limmet reads your usage and limit figures from the services it supports, using the sign-in you already have in your browser.
- It never sees or stores your passwords, and it never asks you to link an account.
- It keeps its data on your device only. It has no server, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
- It shares nothing with anyone.
What the extension accesses
Limmet shows how much of your usage limits is left for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Perplexity, Suno and Notion AI, and when those limits reset. To do this, your browser calls the same web endpoints that each service’s own website uses to show you your usage. The requests are made with the sign-in (cookies) you already have in that browser, exactly as if you had opened the service’s website yourself.
The extension reads the usage and limit figures in the responses, such as percentages used, counts left and reset times. It does not see or store your passwords, it does not ask you to link an account, and it does not read your conversations or other content on these services.
Some services need a short-lived token along with the cookies: for example, ChatGPT’s website gives the browser a session token, and Gemini’s page contains one. Limmet reads such a token from that service’s own page or session endpoint, exactly as the website does, and uses it only for requests to the same service. Limmet does not store these tokens, except that Gemini’s page token is kept in the extension storage for up to ten minutes so it can be reused.
The requests go only to these services’ own domains:

On claude.ai, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com and grok.com the extension also adds its small widget to the page. The widget only displays the usage figures that Limmet already has. It only looks for the message box to position itself next to it, and it does not read what you type or the conversation.
What it stores, and where
Limmet stores the following in chrome.storage.local, the extension storage of your own browser profile, on your device:
- your settings (for example the order and visibility of services, widget and notification options, and the popup size);
- the latest usage result for each service;
- the state of notifications, so that you are told once and not repeatedly;
- Gemini’s short-lived page token, for up to ten minutes (see above);
- the identifier of your Claude organisation, for up to 24 hours, so that Limmet knows whose usage to ask Claude for;
- a usage history: at most one data point per hour for each limit, kept for 90 days. You can export the history to a CSV file. The file is created on your device when you ask for it.
None of this leaves your device. Limmet has no server to send it to.
How long it is kept
- Settings stay until you change them or remove the extension.
- The latest result for each service stays until a newer result replaces it.
- The usage history is kept for 90 days, and older points are deleted.
- When you uninstall the extension, your browser removes everything it stored.
What it shares
Nothing. Limmet does not send any data to the developer or to any third party. It has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not sell or transfer user data. The only network requests it makes are the requests to each service’s own domains listed above, which are the same requests your browser makes when you use those websites. Those services handle such requests under their own privacy policies.
Permissions, and why the extension asks for them
storage- To keep your settings, the latest results and the usage history on your device.
alarms- To refresh the limits every 15 minutes in the background, and to re-check the services you are signed out of every hour.
notifications- To show the optional desktop notifications, when a limit reaches the percentage you chose and when it resets.
scripting- To show the widget in tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated.
- Host access to the services listed above
- To read your usage from each service’s own endpoints, with the sign-in you already have. The widget runs only on claude.ai, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com and grok.com.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Limmet is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a change affects what data the extension handles, it will be described here before the change reaches you.
